Default Is it possible to get this coloration on a straight??

I've seen this on a few knives and thought it would probably look cool on a straight. What is the process to get it done and would it ruin the shaving abilities of the razor?

The only three metals I know you can do that with are titanium, niobium, or tantalum. It's an oxide layer that acts as a prism.

Probably a stupid question but would those metal work for a SR. are there any other metals you can use other than carbon steel and stainless?

It's the game of edge holding ability. There is no match to carbon steel. I am sure you might be able to get a Ti alloy to shave but it would most likely be less than satisfactory.

Those metals will not be suitable for a straight. You could get a typical straight plated or blued. That's about it.

Get a nice blade and make the scales with that color.

Titanium scales.. or at least with a top layer of Ti.. acrylic or some other material under it.. this would be really interesting.

I've seen a few of those 'razor shaped objects' finished like that - not the most refined look IMO. Check out some of Charlie Lewis' custom razors if your after something other than mirrored steel.
