Thread: Gift for my brother?

Hello to all! This is my first post here, but I believe I will be sticking around for a while. I recently got a straight razor from my father and my younger brother was a bit envious. I'd like to get him a straight razor for Christmas if I could, but I don't know very much about the different brands and such. I've been looking at the classifieds on this site as well as some of the forum posts, so I'm starting to get a better idea. But I thought I'd throw a line out there to see if I could get some guidance with regard to form vs. function.

My brother (like me) just does not care about form, ESPECIALLY if it comes at the expense of function. With that in mind, I was hoping to find something functional for him for under $100 if possible. My sister will be getting my brother a strop, mug and brush, etc. so that stuff is taken care of. I just want to get a straight razor that shaves well for a semi-newbie. My brother knows how to shave with a straight razor, but he doesn't do it often because he doesn't have one. But we both learned how growing up, so he's not a total novice. So if anyone has any suggestions for something that is very good on the functional end of the spectrum that would be great. Although the razor doesn't need to be especially plain, if all things are equal, I would get him one that is as plain as possible. Like I said before, he cares only about form and not at all for function. Thanks in advance!
