7 day set
Howdy, Just picked up a 7 day set that is in excellent condition as far as the razors goes. On the blade it says "Aquila gold" & caschmiso. The other side says richard schmitz solingen. I've found out very little other than there is a man who has the same set and he is missing the "tuesday" razor. I'm excited, i never thought i would own a 7 day set!!! Of course any info would be wonderful, thanks for looking Also i'm scared to clean them up because of the red and green...what would you use for very light cleaning that wouldn't hurt that?

Thanked: 270It's hard to see what you're trying to clean up with the picture you have, but to me the set looks beautiful and if it were me I'd just hone them up and enjoy shaving with them. You look set for life!

there is some very very light surface rust. Nothing that goes down...to be honest i might could just take a microfiber cloth and wipe it up. I really haven't had a chance to try

Thanked: 270I really think that you can prevent any further rusting by keeping the razor clean and dry. What I do is dry the razor as best as I can with a towel, strop 30 strokes on the linen side of the strop, then 50 strokes on the leather side before putting the razor up. I live in a humid area and keep my razor in a room adjacent to the bathroom in a leather case. It's possible that the light surface rust would reverse itself by doing something like I do.
What I have learned is that even brand new straight razors aren't perfect, and perhaps they aren't made quite as well as they were when everyone shaved with these.
The last thing I would suggest is to realize just how nice that 7-day set you have is. I know on other shaving forums that aren't as straight-razor intensive as this one that people impulsively sell things they were delighted to acquire just a short time before. I'm pretty sure you have a keeper and I hope you don't let it go.

For care, I would advise that you be very careful as to rubbing any hone leavings or other slightly abrasive particles off the razor, Rinse the blade and use your fingers with a bit of soap on them to assure a clean blade. then dry as in the above suggestions.
Just my take after honing a nice razor and losing the gold wash on a razor when i were a newb! Wiping off the hone slurry wiped off the gold wash! I are still are learning!
You have a gorgeous set!

Well thank you. I just collect at the time and i couldn't pass it up @ $150, but i will have to sell some of my other razors to pay for it. I don't want to sell it because it's in such good shape and to be honest i've never seen a 7 day set. I'm still a noob that's learning

That was quite a deal. I hope you show us a larger shot of one of the razors.

Thanked: 116Great find! Should wind up being great shavers! There are plenty of articles here on razor care and everyone has their own ritual. Fool around a bit and find out what works for you. I second the caution mentioned about wiping hone slurry from the blades. Good point Geezer!
