Straight razor difference
I've been seeing some straight say on tang or blade, for barbers, for barber use, or barber blade. Are these blade easier to hone, better for barber hone use, sharper edge, better for courser beard/thick, keeps edge longer? I've just been wondering since I've seen it from time to time, maybe someone has some info or knowledge on this, would really love to know thanks

As far as I know, there is little difference between the ones marketed for barbers and the others. The one thing I seem to have noticed is they are usually larger blades, typically 6/8 and up. A wider blade means it can hold more lather before rinsing, and so the shave supposedly would go quicker. This is not strictly true, a company could market larger razors without this labelling as well, but it seems the stamp got put on larger razors only. I have seen barber's use stamp on 5/8 razors even, but they are far more common on 7/8 and 8/8 than on smaller razors.
This is the only "difference" I am aware of, if you can even call it a difference.
Anyways, they are often sought after today since they tend to be the larger of the blades from any manufacturer.

Thanked: 26I wonder if this isn't similar to the way violins are marketed: even the lowest level of crap gets names like "Professional Model", "Artist's Model", "Soloist's Model". From a marketing standpoint this sounds a lot better than "Possibly the Worst Violin in the World, Ideal for Someone Who Doesn't Know Any Better", which is usually closer to the truth.
