Thanked: 51Birthday present from my parents
I got my birthday present from my parents earlier today, and I was astonished to find that they had gotten me a Reaper! It's got some hone wear, but the blade and scales are in great shape. Now I just have to work up the courage to try and hone it.

Very nice. I wouldn't hone or use that if I were you. People already pay crack prices for those things, it could be worth a lot of moola in 20 years.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Thanked: 51I thought about just putting it up, but that's not my style. I'm the kind of person who would buy a '69 Stingray and drive it every day, and I'm guessing that it'll be sometime later this week when I finally pull the hones out.

I like your thinking. These razors we covet them so much, but the fact is using these wonderful creations is the best thing about this passion. The number of hands that that razor passed thru, and will be passed after all of us are gone.
Hone it up, you are most envied.

Congratulations. I agree you should enjoy it. I just bought a Double Duck that has never been used and I've had it honed and stropped and it's waiting to give me a nice shave Christmas morning.

It's just a razor. The mania isn't intrinsic to the piece it comes from us. So, hone it up and use it and report back about your shaving experience with it.

Incredible gift. Have a pro hone it, that is not one to learn on.
