look what the cat dragged in ....
well i spent the day working on this thing of beauty !! scales have a good crack in them that ive tried super glue , gorilla glue ect and put em in a vise with rubber jaws to repair , hours later i pulled it out of the vise opened the razor and pop my crack is back lol.. well i learned my lesson on the last set of home made wood scales when i took em off and didnt have the bigger pin/washers i need so these are staying on till they break off ( i think that isnt to far off though ..lol)
blade was hitting the inside of the scale so i got in there with the dremel and took out some of the wood since i didnt wanna risk tapping the pin and making the crack worse , then hit the brass with the wire wheel to bring them back , then sanded down the scales and stained them in English Chestnut stain , then sanded the blade down from 325-2000 , then set a bevel on the 1k and then to the 4-8k , i am very impressed how this thing took an edge , and after a few rubs on the strop 2morrow i hope to post a tale of how well it shaved in the SOTD thread ... and now i bring you my new W. Greaves & Sons
BEFORE
AFTER

I don't know the point or year, but I do like the looks of the blade & I would put an edge on her & shave away.

That blade has a very nice flow.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Thanked: 1184I am soooo getting to the point of having to have something like this. After I pay down 3 credit cards from buying ducks that is....
The good news is I should have enough credit to buy an island now.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

not what i wanted to hear ... now i gotta set more aside to fight you off ...lol.... it is a sweet blade and feels real nice in the hand , im prob gonna go shave with it here in bout an hour or so .
i wish i coulda got that crack to stay together but it just wouldnt , i was putting stain on a brush i started redoing so i thought ill just re-stain the scales while im at it .. they are very very brittle , i let them suck up some old english polish before i stained them but i dont think there gonna last much longer ... i may fill it with putty and resand and stain to mayb add some strength to it .. i did add a clear coat to the scales today to , to kinda stiffin them up a bit ..

Gooser. I really like your new blade. I hope it brings you years of enjoyment. You did an excellent job sanding and polishing. Greaves is a personal friend of mine. If you want a job at the Sheffield factory let me know and I can forward your resume by pigeon.
Sincerely
Cheetah M. Pheonix
