Well, I've bought the Joseph Rogers and sons razor. I couldn't help it!

I've had a look over it and the steel appears to be ok, in need of a damned good clean, but ok.

The scales look to me to be made from horn. There is a piece missing and I was hoping they could be repaired or made to look better at any rate without replacing them.

Since it is at the wedge end you could fashion a piece out of another pair of broken scales, or anything that you have access to that will work. Super glue it onto the wedge.

It doesn't appear to have a spacer. The unbroken side of the scales is cut thicker at that point.

In that case it will stick even better - horn is the same sort of material our fingernails are made from - superglue sticks to them pretty well! Make sure to de-grease the surface first.

    Regards,
    Neil

NB: you will have a fairly rigid set of scales after this.

Don't suppose you'd be up for it Neil? Do you have an address I can send my razors to for honing by your good self? Saves emailing you through your site again

Yep. I'm not perfect & I bet I can find something a bit "off" on any razor I own. Key for me is that they give me a great shave.

I recall threads about filling in chips/bites/holes in horn, though I can't remember what with. Perhaps some glue or epoxy with stuff in it for texture/color. That could be another option. If it were my personal razor, I'd leave it (unless the rest of the razor were perfect), but that's just me.
