Straights in Bahrain
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows of where I can get my hands on a decent razor in Bahrain? I've ordered a couple but they seem to have gotten "lost" in the mail. I was going to bring one with me but I wasn't sure of the customs regs here. If I'd lost my wade & butcher I'd have been devastated.
I've been looking around the place and found few in the souqs but they are poor quality and I'm not very good at honing. Not to mention I can't find anyone to hone them once I have one.
Looks like I might just have to put up with my Mach3 until I go home

I've started traveling with a Parker Shavette . They have a nice weight to them. Clean looking. I use the 1/2 blades like Derby or Shark.
Nice shaves and best of all ... If you lose them you're only out a few $.

Thanked: 116First, wtf are you doing there?
Second, I doubt you'll have any luck until you leave! Before you travel next, get some time on the hones and bring a touchup hone with you as well as your strop and you shouldn't have any issues.

Actually, I had a Dovo Shavette once but I didn't like it. How do the Parkers compare? And for that matter, the Feathers?

Thanked: 10I have a parker and it is doing a good job while I learn to shave with it. The blade portion feels solid but is thin, the scales on mine is stamped and formed stainless and feels a little flimsy. But to be fair I was twisting it in an unnatural manor a razor would be used. It feels pretty good once in your hand and has a light feel to it. The entire razor is stainless so it is nice to be-able to rinse it off and let it hang until the next shave. I don't have any thing to compare it to but I like it and the price was nice to.

The Feather AC series is a step above. The main reason is that it a blade handle for what I feel is the best blade that you can buy today. The Feather Proguard. A real 2 pass shave. The bade is designed in a way that your chances of cutting yourself is minimized.

Have you found any beauty supply stores there if so you could pick up a Fromm hair shaper and persona hair shaper blades and shave with that.
If you do that and like it I would suggest getting a weck sextoblade which is like the hair shaper but was designed to be a razor.,
