Thread: Hi I'm Dave Just ordered my first Straight Razor a TPE

Hi everyone,

Im new to this site. I have been wet shaving for about 3 months now with an OC DE safety razor and always knew that I wanted to "eventually " go to Straight Razor shaving.

So after some research I spoke with Howard at The Perfect Edge. He was very patient and accommodating. After I explained my situation, that I'm new to Straight Razors, and my face size/shape; we settled on a 5/8 TPE Razor with his new steel and a buffalo handle, as well as a Strop and some Oil for the razor's pivot point. Howard is going to hone the blade and get it shave ready and my order should arrive sometime this week or early next week.

Howard was a real pleasure to deal with. In fact, Howard referred me to this site.

I would love to hear from you, especially anyone who has any hands on experience with the TPE razors.

All forum comments I've seen so far about The Perfect Edge are very complimentary, however, there was never a reply or follow up to this post. I've been lurking on StraightRazorPlace off and on for a while now with the intent to try shaving with a straight razor. So far I've been put off by lack of kit. I live in Jakarta Indonesia and have not found anyone who can supply and hone here. My sister however, lives in the Boston region, kind of, and I was thinking of hitting her up for a Christmas present. That led me to this post and TPE. However, I haven't located an actual review of the TPE razors and the last thing I want to do is pick up one of the "inferior razors" that have been listed in other locations on this site. I noticed that TPE isn't in that list either, so that's a good sign, but still kind of ambiguous.

if anyone can provide an objective review, that would be great. If the OP is still following this thread: how has your razor turned out?
