    Question Fixable?

What do you guys think - are the chips in the edge fixable? I'm debating buying this.

Probably fixable, if that is your cup o' tea (and it might be. Just get ready to hone). Assuming chips only and no cracks. But there are so many better ones out there if you keep looking.

BTW, how much will you pay for it? That makes a big difference.

    Just my $0.02

$7-$10 + shipping. I don't know, it might be too much work, especially since I don't have a lot of hones/experience at this point.

That one looks to me like an awful lot of metal will need to come off in order to restore a uniform bevel and edge. I wouldn't bother with it unless that particular razor has some unique appeal to you.

Assuming there's no major chips or cracks, I think it's fully fixable. As long as you have patience, it can be done.

Easily fixable. Just tape up the spine and go circular on 1000 grit sandpaper.

I've taken out chips that size before. It will take a while. If it were me that razor would spend some quality time with my 220-grit waterstone before I went on to the 1000 grit.

I'd buy it for 10. If there are cracks, though - you're out of luck...

If you can get a shaving edge on that razor, you WILL have the hone experience. I'm not joking about that either. The first razor I honed to a shaving edge had a 1/8" long chip out of the edge. By the time I honed out the chip, I was comfortable honing, and it was just little tricks to learn from there (i.e. how to hone a warped blade, etc).

I think if you want to learn to hone, there is no better razor to learn on. It's quality steel, and (as has been metioned) if there are no cracks, you can get an edge on it....

Very fixable, assuming no cracks (as has been said) A belt and less than five minutes, it'd be ready to hone.
