Thanked: 0My Prague score - Wusthof 4/8
While visiting Prague, I decided to pop into one antique shop and after looking at a few over honed straights, the guy pulled out a little black box... which read Ed. Wusthof - Solingen. I really liked the inset trident in the scales, so we made a deal... I offered him 400 krowns (about $20).
There are a few rust spots, and needs to be touched up with some polish, but it seems like it has never been honed past the factory. It says 42 4/8 Paris on one side of the tang, with just the trident on the other. I generally like bigger blades, but I figured I would give a 4/8 a shot.
It seems like smaller blades dominated in Central Europe, because that is the majority that I find here.
I am looking forward to getting it honed and trying it out when I get back to Canada. What do you guys think? Not a bad find?

Heh, I used to live in Prague!
I think you got a pretty good deal, considering you bought it in one of the tourist traps. Looking forward hearing how it shaves!

Thanked: 0Thanks guys! Am excited to get this thing polished and shave ready. It's my first antique store find, and will a be a great souvenir from this trip.
Hey Olbez... It was bought not far from the Staropramen brewery and Andel shopping center... It might bring back some memories of Prague. I was born in Prague, but lived here only a short time when I was a kid. What a beautiful city. I love coming here.
Also, I found that a company with a long tradition of knife making, named Mikov, that also made surgical SRs much like the Wapienica, so am hoping to get my hands on one. I want an SR made in the same country as me...
