Thanked: 0Heirloom Razors
Hello SrP community,
I received some straight razors from my dad, that he received from his dad. The blades are in okay condition, a few spots of rust and some discolouration. I was hoping to use this but wanted to know if / how this is possible (how do I clean them, where do I take them to get cleaned, how do I ensure they are safe to use, etc) any help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks,
CAMarr

Hello CAmarr,
We have members here who are vendors that evaluate & restore razors.
Look in the classified section & reach out to one of them.
They are all reputable & trustworthy.
If it's an heirloom, let the Pros do the work for you.

Thanked: 3227Congrats on receiving those heirlooms. You can check this section of the site for info Straight Razor Place Wiki - Straight Razor Place Wiki and it should answer a lot of how to questions. I would agree that since they are heirlooms the best course of action would be to have them professionally restored. If you want to tinker and learn get an old beater razor that if you mess up it is not a great loss.

Hi CAMarr,
Nice to have heirlooms. I inherited some and decided to do just modest cleanup and restoration to mine. If you want, as nice as you can get, I agree with the above posts to send them to a member that specializes in restorations. You'll find links to the vendors and classifieds below.
If you decide to take on the job yourself, this link should help. http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...wers-here.html
Welcome, and enjoy!!
Best Regards,
