Boker is a great razor manufacturer and are still producing world class blades today. Do a search for 'boker' on the site, or google, or anywhere. There is quite an extensive history with this company and it's all very easy to find. Bokers are some of the easier razors to identify and date and are excellent shavers. Congrats on the nice blade.

I wish my old radium still had gold wash on it but yours will be gone just as soon and you start to polish it up. Bokers, especially the vintage ones are great shavers and generally hold an edge a good lonng time. i have an old boker "our celebrated razor" that was my grandfathers that my father used before me as well. my granddad put some hideous homemade wooden scales on it long ago and there is no way i would swap them out. the razor is my goto shaver and is the top razor in my rotation.
don't worry about the name in the old days there were not any of our nanny state truth in advertising laws, so your razor is not radioactive.

    enjoy,

You still could save that gold wash if you decide to clean it up. Any metal polish or abrasive of any kind will remove that gold, so be careful. If and when you start to clean that beauty up, cut some electrical tape the exact size of the gold and cover it up.

If you have to fall to plan B, and there's no way you can save the gold, The etching will remain. Either way you got yourself a keeper there!! Not only is it pretty to look at, its been passed down through hands of your grandfathers. I wish I had a razor like that!! That's a true prize you have there.

    Welcome aboard!
I know many of our members would love to have a connection to the past such as you have. Being able to shave with a grandfather or great-grandfather's razor is definitely a treat. The Boker you are showing there is a great razor and should give many more years of service.
    Enjoy the ride!

This is exactly what I would have done if it were my family's razor. Originality trumps like new restoration. Most of us here would give anything to have an heirloom like this.
One thing though, you have to hone it up and shave with it. It's like fate, lol.
