Thanked: 0Thrilling antique store find today!
So I bought 4 razors and a brush they are all in great shape from the blade to the scales to the brush itself. I have a Wade and Butcher in the group with its original box, barbers notch, and blade face engraving (No England after the Sheffield.) Next is a Joseph Rodgers and sons, It has a beautiful jimping over and under and the tang stamp doesn't have the hallmarks many do (again only Sheffield no England.) Next is a W. Gilchrist, a very large blade, definitely the heaviest I have held, the only other thing odd here is a very thin long tail, and no marks to where its from. Up till now they are all in horn scales with VERY little to no damage (one does have a obvious replacement pin/washer set up.) Next is a Shuredge, this one has a thick patina hard to see past and a hammered tang. I do see on the face of the blade it says "The Razor Made For Your Face' in fancy cursive (again under a lot of patina) this makes sense with the numbers stamped on the tail. 15-l-400 (RobesonsRme.com , razor guide) the other side of the tail says "made in U.S.A.) Set in what looks like brass clad Celluloid or Bakelite scales. Last is the brush, I have never seen a brush like this. Its heavy and large its the perfect fit for someone like me, it is metal seems to be boar, and there is a number 3 stamped on the side. I always love posting these finds not only to brag a bit but I love when I find more history I didn't know. Hello MANAH?!?!?!
