Yeah I prolly should have just kept mine, but a lot of the guys here made a point and said might be hard to get that crack dry and be trouble with rust and maybe splitting open even more.

    Hi all,

I'd like to set the record straight on the Japanese seller that is being refered to in this thread.
There are actually more than one seller out of Japan for straight razors, the one that the OP has bought from is actually myself and I sell under the name bakeramay.

I would also like to say that in a year of selling straights on eBay I've never had a return - the filly that Marcelitegti mentionned must be one of Nipponjapan's sales.

I'm currently in contact with the OP, Robert, via eBay as he has been advised by Max at VintageStraightRazors.com that the filarmonica I sold is not authentic and will not take an edge. My goal is to get a satisfactory outcome for both parties.

He's correct, I've never purchased a razor from him.

Thanks for confirming. I take a lot of pride in my customer service dealings and so far I've not had an unhappy client.

@OP - could you post some pictures of the Filly now that you've got it please.

What was the outcome of this? I was not aware that there are fake filarmonicas floating around. How can you tell if it is fake vs authentic?

I'm not sure there is fakes, but usually the ones in the black boxes I believe are harder to hone and quality control was not as tight. At least in my experience with them.
