Well.... waddya know? They're not TOTALLY useless!
Those dreaded Pakistani razors make terrific patch cutters for muzzleloading black powder rifles. And here I thought they were only good for comic relief.

Thanked: 2Could you describe the process please?
I'm not a muzzleloader and I still have doubts about those crappy razors. It's not that I don't believe you, it's that I don't believe they could be useful.

I'm not a muzzleloader either... I just know a few and have seen it in action. When loading, there is always a bit of the patch that extends past the ball and out the muzzle. That bit needs to be trimmed off before ramming the ball home. The two who I have seen using a razor for that cutting love them. They say its easer to cut the patch than with a knife.
I suppose a box cutter blade would work, but then box cutter blades were not around in the late 1700's and early 1800's.... razors were; and muzzloading freaks tend to be a bit fanatic about being as "authentic" as possible.
