    I don't know why it is in most peoples heads that stainless won't rust, but the word (two words actually) Stainless doesn't mean Rust Proof! Stainless takes less care, in that if you forget to look after it after use every so often you might be alright. It doesn't mean you can't take any care at all, because you will be in strife eventually if you think that.
    Hopefully the OP just has a bit of crud in there that is easily cleaned out. All the best with it mate.

    I do something similar, my rotation is on the bathroom counter wrapped in handkerchiefs. After a while the mineral oil spreads into the handkerchief, it's humid here, no rust problems.
