There are numerous custom razor makers that due beautiful work, many are members here. Most all of them have their own style. Some styles are radically different. It is not uncommon for a member to have razors from different makers, each a "favorite", as you put it.
For me to give a ranking of # 1 razor maker, to just one individual is impossible.
You need to review the numerous razor makers & their work. This is a very personal choice.

Thanked: 38You can find here some very good custom makers. When they raise in the order of 400$ per razor you can assume that teir work is technically perfect. You must give a look at their production ant take the one you like more the style.
As an alternative you could try with some custom maker thet is at the beginning of his career, is not yet famous and keeps prices at lower level mostly underrated, IF you can find anyone reccommending the quality of his work.
Personally I know a good one in Italy, if you are interested pm me.

As said above, there are many fine makers of custom razors out there.
I'm fortunate enough to have a few, and I love them all.
Look around the razor clubs and the SOTD threads and you will see a great many lovely straights made by some fine artists.
I'm sure you will find a certain maker or design that screams out to you.
I keep hearing those screams most all the time myself..Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 13245What the guys are trying to tell you is it could be pretty insulting to others by mentioning just one, it would also be very hard for most people to rank them. One of the other shave forums tried that in the past and caused huge rifts and bruised feelings by doing it..
I can think of very few here the own many of them from many makers... There are even very few that have honed many from many makers..
Here is a link to the razor clubs

There you will find much of what you seek, that way we don't insult some of the custom makersLast edited by gssixgun; 01-20-2013 at 05:01 PM.

Custom opinion
Is there a directory of custom razor makers around? That's what this guy needs, an un-ranked list.

I could not possible name a single craftsman as the number 1. I would have to list almost all the custom makers and at my age my memory would probably cause me to miss one or two of the guys I am crazy about and then i would't sleep well that night. : )

There is a list of custom makers here in the wiki. I can across it once. Just use the search and it should come up.
Everyone one of them have incredible designs. I truly man all of them.
I have one or two that I would purchase from first but, I would love to have one from all of them.
They are all so different and elegant that naming one for me at least would be impossible.
Like Sands of grain on a beach, all of them have their own charms to them.
If you look Thru the galleries one or more well really call out to you but not necessarily one better than another.
