    Default RAD? My growing collection

Well, it's only been since the end of Nov, but the collection disorder is already underway. My first on the left is the Dovo, on top is the whipped dog special, and on the right is my antique shop find the 1902 Simmons Hardware No. 8 Special!Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359083849.672971.jpg

Never saw somebody else with the Simmons hardware razor besides myself. Let me know how u like her once she is honed.. I'm a noob also just started honing.. And that razor trying to hone her is killing me but I'll get there good luck happy shaving.

I got it honed right after I got it, though the honing wasn't top notch. I was able to bring it up to spec with some paste and now it shaves wonderfully. The smaller size (4/8) is the only thing I still need to get used to, so I'm not getting the greatest shaves yet.

Yeah, I've found mine still needs a little work, but it is useable...just not as smooth as the dovo I have that was honed by Lynn. Eventually, I'll probably break down and send it to him for a good overhaul.

Very nice. I like the Whipped Dog special; what sort of razor is that one?

It is a nice looking razor, unfortunately, I really don't know a lot about it as it doesn't have a manufacturer on it. The blade says "Solingen Best Silversteel", tang says "IA Bohlerstahl". So obviously it was made some unknown time period in Solingen, GE and the Bohler Stahl is the type of steel. The IA part may be a manufacturer/seller in Iowa...not sure. I did find something about a place in Iowa that used that type of steel for cutlery, but couldn't find anything specifically about razors.

Oh, right. I like the scales too actually. Is the end bit near the toe clear plastic?

The plastic is clear, though the inside of it is painted white to brighten it up a bit. The tang end is also clear, though probably from years of opening/closing, the white has worn off.
