Hello i was wondering if someone could id this razor for me and possibly give me some history on the company sorry the pic is upside down i cant make out the word but the logo is like a battle axe with some stars

It's not a battle axe, it's a hammer. It was made by George Johnson and Company, I think the operative years are 1835 - 1855. To be so thin and still working, yours have probably been reground in later times, but the picture is not clear enough to say for sure. I have a similar one with a larger blade, but it too seems a reground. This can be a sign that it's a good blade, if people wanted to use it till the end of it!

I would pass, it looks a bit beat up and being such a small blade, that chip could be serious

Thanked: 1184I have 2 of these old razors. 1 stub tail with turtle scales and 1 with horn.
Sorry the picture is not so great but you get the idea of the blade size.
I'm not sure the stub tail's blade is supposed to be shaped like that but you can see the blade was even wider than the bottom one towards the toe. I haven't had a chance to clean them up yet but I will get to it soon.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
