Thanked: 0Matt @ Sharpeningshack + D. Peres = Awesome
My fiancé's father gave me his father's Daniel Peres Straight Razor over the holiday. This is my first straight razor and because it's fairly old, it needed to be professionally sharpened. I took it to Matt at the Sharpening shack here in San Diego and he did a great job.
It was my first time shaving with a straight razor and I'm happy to say no cuts and a good shave! I'll be honest with you guys though, I didn't shave my entire face with it because I got scared around some parts of my neck. I did however shave about 60-65% of my total facial hair though! Haha!
Here's an image I took of my new to me but oldish D. Peres =]

My first couple of weeks beginning straight razor shaving I used a DE to get the chin and some of the neck. After that I began getting it all with the straight. My guess is you'll find the learning curve to be similar.

Matt is the best. When I was in SanDog, he handled all of my honing and restoration projects.

Great blade! And don't worry... my first shave I used a Fusion on my neck.
Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?
