Thanked: 13Scrappy new Wade & Butcher
Hi all,
I just got this off eBay, for a price that, in hindsight, I could have beaten by buying one off the Classifieds here. But hey, it's mine now. So, live and learn and all that, right?
Anyway, it's in pretty scrappy condition: some pitting, lots of discolouration, it sticks slightly when I open it and the (plastic?) scales have a chunk missing from one side and a small crack, but I was looking for a Wade & Butcher to use as a shaver, not a collector. And I need something to fill in once I find someone to send my Dovo to for a re-hone.
Here are some pics. I know nothing about the age or any of that, but the shank says Wade & Butcher / Sheffield, England' and has the Circled B, the arrow and the cross. Nothing on the blade.
Anyone know anything about 'em?
Also, I'm going to be looking for someone to give the thing a bit of a rehab, but money's an issue. Think it'll be worthwhile to try and find someone to just clean it up and re-hone it, then maybe do a re-scale later? I know that I won't be able to get a pristine razor out of this one, as the pitting is kind of pronounced, so I don't want to toss a bunch of cash that I don't have at a razor that won't be worth it.
