Thanked: 0Can someone tell me more about this razor?
hey all,
i was looking to get a used puma "high-class" straight razor, and i wanted to know what the general impressions of this razor are. if someone owes/used one before, i'd be curious to see what you thought of its performance.
thanks.

Thanked: 9Well,
Pumas are generally great razors.
I have seen "High Class" on a number of different models (e.g. 90, 91 and different sizes). So I am not sure what you are going to buy.
I don't like the looks of the High Class gold etch too much but don't let this stop you from getting a great shaver. How much are you paying for it (and in what condition)? I bought one such razor which was in worse condition than advertised and cracked
If you are a newb, I'd advise you to get something over 4/8 (5/8 or 6/8) and get it sharpened by one of the honemeisters
Cheers
Ivo
ps I don't think it's a high-end Puma, if this is what you were askingLast edited by izlat; 01-05-2007 at 03:53 PM.

Thanked: 0well there's one that's selling on ebay that i was looking at. it looks like it's in good condition and it has a "90" carved into the blade if that means anything to you.

well i'm pretty new to this and i'd love to try a puma razor as i've heard a lot of good things about them (and hopefully you guys reading aren't gonna check it out and also want it!)
but thanks for any info you might have on whether this would be a good acquisition for the price.

Thanked: 9That WILL NOT be the final price. I bet my
Now, it is on my watch list - but just for the sport thrill, I am not going to bid. I think it's in good condition and should work well for you. Pumas are funny, sometimes they get higher bids just because someone does not know what he's doing, other times they sell cheap under the radar... And sometimes, like the 7/8 or the Puma Gold they can go over 400.
If I were buying it, would not pay more than 50 for this one, but I have several better Pumas. I would not be surprised if this goes to 80 or above though.
Cheers

If you can get it honed properly then yes. It might go up quite a bit more in the last few days though. Puma's are popular...though not quite as much as the Dubl Ducks.
