    Default Water marks during shave.

Hi guys, new here and new to the world of straights, i take pretty good care of my razor, it gets dried stropped, oiled before being put away.

But on todays shave when i finished i noticed during my final rinse, some black dots/marks that weren't there before the shave.

Its a Dovo with a Carbon steel blade, i managed to get the marks of with some tooth paste and a clean cloth.

I usually rinse my blade under the tap but tonights shave i just wiped it on a clean towel?

    i hate marks

Razors are like auto's, you can't keep them looking perfectly new forever...but we do try. You might pick up some metal cleaner (Maas or Flitz) to help with any marks, but most will remove goldwash too. I don't like marks either...I want either a pristine blade or an old looking blade personally.

I get 'em from my tap water too. My solution has been to clean with metal polish like shooter said, and then coat them with Renaissance wax. The ren-wax will protect them for a time until stropping and handling takes it off. Then apply again if necessary.

This is what I do. After I finish shaving I wash and dry the blade as best I can, then repeat my pre-shave stropping routine to make absolutely sure it is dry with no residue. If it looks dry, I put the razor away.

I just dry mine and put it away with no stropping. I've never had a water spot problem.

I dry mine with tissue paper and then strop. Haven't had a problem yet.
