I think I have 2 8/8s razors but quite few 7/8s. it's not that I dislike the larger razors because they are clumsy big but what really chaps my hide is those large scales that always seem to get in the way as I shave. I much prefer the 6/8 and 5/8s razors the best.
One of my 8/8s is a Dorko and the other I don't even remember it's been so long since I used it. I think the only razor I've used less is a 2/8s mercur I have.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Where can I find that 8/8 Revisor you speak of?
Jimmy, I am kinda digging the bigger blades right now. One of my best shavers is a 5/8 Palmer though so I still love the smaller ones. It may even be a 4/8. I like them all and am just looking to broaden my collection. Ive got new 5/8,6/8, and 7/8 so I figure Ill get a new 8/8 and then start going for quality vintage. I have several vintage but nothing special except a couple of Bokers. I have a Goldedge but its got a slight frown I didn't see in the picture. Im going to start off here in the Classifieds and start with the 5/8 size and work my way up over time.

I know what you mean, if I didn't have an 8/8 I'd for sure be wanting one. They are cool. another arrow in the quiver. Sometimes I feel like an 8/8 or larger.
Here is the Revisor website

i was looking at those 8/8 Friodurs the other day .. i think when i get back to work in the spring its gonna be one of those or a Hart ..
i seem to shave with something different ( size wise ) everytime .. but one of my favs is a 7/8 Greaves and i shave the easiest with it , it has just enough smile to work with my style and get places i have a hard time with other razors ..Last edited by gooser; 02-22-2013 at 04:08 AM.

I'm with you on big blades. I have a 9/8 and 8/8 Wade & Butcher. I also have a 7/8 TI that I picked up about a year ago from classic shaving. Vintagebladesllc.com also carries 7/8 TI's. Good luck in your search and choice.

Thanked: 580The 8/8+ are cool, but i am liking the 5/8 or 6/8 more and more as far as a good shave goes. Gotta try these things to find out though. There were some NOS Palmera no. 14 on the bay a while back, picked one up, awesome blade but junk scales.

Here is a direct link to the 8/8:
8/8
Go here choose which one you want and email them at [email protected]. Let them know what model number, you address, and what your paypal is they will send you an invoice you pay them. Shave 7 days later.
Sorry for the step by step but the information is a little scattered in the website (being it is mostly german to english translation). It sounds more complicated than it is. And they are wonderful people to deal with.
I love my 8/8 Revisor it is the best shaver I have, and my favorite to hone.Last edited by suits123; 02-22-2013 at 05:47 AM.

Thanked: 4I tend to prefer the larger blades. I now have 3 8/8 blades (2 friodurs and a Dorko) and 4 7/8 blades (2 Dorkos, 1 Filarmonica and 1 Friodur) and approx 12-15 smaller blades (5/8 - 6/8). I find myself reaching for the big blades 80% of the time. I don't think they give me a better shave to be honest but they are just cool. I am still relatively new to SR shaving (almost 6 months) so the novelty of a big blade hasn't worn off yet. They are a bit heavier so it might be a little easier to plow through a thick beard but I shave everyday so I can't say for sure. Next up I need one of those giant FBU W&B and maybe a large Kamisori!

Thanked: 3How about a monkey in the wrench...the 180mm Iwasaki? It is monster by kamisori standards and a nice way to broaden a collection. Shaves like a dream and one gets to learn new honing skills.
