Did a little readsearch and it turns out j nore was a French cutler who produced top of the line merchandise and frequently used fine precious metals and ivory on most of their wares. I think the case is closed on this one.

Sorry , I like to show it off, every chance I get.
Since it's not a gun thread, you don't get to see the rest of this beauty.

Speaking of Heljestrand and ivory ...... the photo showing the pivot end shows the one on the left with collars. It is a celluloid Helje while the others are ivory and no collars at the pins. The second pic showing now thin the old ivory scales were back then. The 2nd from the top is obviously the celluloid and the one at the bottom of the photo is a Joe Rodgers IIRC. Ain't seen it in quite some time. You may be able to discern the grain in the top photo.

this might be a silly question, but does ivory have any give to it? I have a Joseph Rodgers with ivory colored scales but they bend a little, and I would imagine ivory would be more rigid than that.

Thanked: 1936Yep, it stays in line with a MAB & DePew, kinda like driving a sportscar...can get you in trouble. DOn't think because they are small that they won't "get you" when you are speeding around the old face!
Gotta keep it fun. Oh ya, the MAB is ivory too...my first time working with ivory.Last edited by ScottGoodman; 03-04-2013 at 05:29 AM.
