    Default Jico Review Wanted

I was looking for a new brush online and I came accross this:

Jico 3pcs Cut Throat Razor Shaving Brush Leather Strop Quality Pack Ready To Use | eBay

I'm using a shavette now and it would be nice to move away and into a real straight.

Ive seen this Jico brand a few times on a few sites

Anyone used one/knows someone who has/ has an oppinion on the ad?

Im still fairly new to Straight shaving, so Im looking for an advised opinion!

    Thanks.

    Welcome to SRP.
Freshair, Are you in Australia?? I have a hunch you might be an Aussie. It would help if you included your location.
I highly recommend looking for a "shave ready" razor from the classifieds on this site or from one of the recognised vendors who genuinely offer honed shave ready razors. Generally "factory" honed is not acceptable.
For your first razor and start up kit, have a look at SRD or Whipped Dog. Both are well regarded here.
I am sure you will get heaps of sound advice as a newbie.

I have not used any products from this brand, but after taking a close look at the listing I would pass. I think you can do a lot better for the money.

I would be very suspicious of any razor that lists its best feature as having a 100% very old wood handle. I would email the seller and ask about the country of origin for this razor. My money is on either China or Pakistan. Take the advice of the previous posters and get a razor of known quality from a reputable seller.

    Regards - Walt

    Hi
Well I had bought this exact item about a year ago with a bit of a hesitation as I was also new to the straight razor spree. Anyway my best friend recommended me this brand named Jico which he praised for its hand madeand high qualityi items. I took his word and ordered this pack (it did seem expensive at the moment).
The razor had come shave ready and the handy was made with sturdy natural wood that felt light yrt firm in the hand. It was razor sharp and worked perfectly. The strop ans the shaving brush were also really great.
Now I only use this straight razor and have already ordered another set for my father. My recommendation is that you should try this brand but you should also shop around for other reviews.
I hope my review helped you in your decision.
