Thread: Need experienced persons help.

Hello I found this razor being claimed to be a Northfield Cutlery from 1858 which was the companies first year open. I attached the picture of the razor in question if anyone can help me figure things out because if its authentic it would be a sweet razor to add to my collection.

I highly doubt that the razor is from 1858 (the style does not match), but I suppose anything is possible.

It would be nearly impossible to substantiate the razor being from their first year of production.

As others have mentioned nearly impossible to say its from 1858, but that said, found that the originals were marked :
-Northfield Cutlery Co Conn
-Northfield Knife Co Conn
-Northfield UN-X-LD Knife Co
If your razor is marked like one of these it is a very early Northfield.

Ty Martin when I go and look at it I. Person later today I will be sure to look and see if I can see it marked that way. If not then as long as it is noticeable that Ito can hold a shave ready edge then it wil still be worth the $50 dollars the guy wants for it.

Looks around that age to me - the scales appear to be horn like many of that era.

It has the first stamp on it will attach. Photo of it up close tomorrow
