    My dad gave me this a while back im curious if it would be worth restoring or if its too far gone also wondering what approx. time it may be from? Thanks

    Looks to be in pretty good shape, well worth restoring, especially with the history behind it.

    Welcome to SRP. It is worth restoring. Not sure about what era, maybe 1920s, '30s ..... not sure. I would limit restoring to a light polishing and honing to shave ready ..... assuming you want to get into using it.

    Welcome to SRP Triad, The Germania Cutlery works was in business from 1896 to 1938 in Solingen Germany, Interestingly my first straight was an Oxford from Germania Cutlery and its a fine shaver that is still part of my rotation. Enjoy!

    Looks like the blade and scales are in pretty good shape. From the pics, it looks like it has minimal hone wear, and no rust. Thats awesome considering It's age and that its your great, great grandfathers. It would make me feel so good If my grandma ever handed me a razor my grandfather used. I agree with Jimmy, A little polish and a hone is all this beauty needs. If your wanting to use it, read a lot and ask a lot. There's many guys on here that can help. Again, nice razor!!!

    Germania was around ca 1896-1938 I would guess that one from the grind and tail design toward the later part of that time (figures Martin beat me to that :P )

    Those Oxford razors are very nice shavers..

    Thanks fellas!! I definatly will get it fixed up and shave with it. I have been shaving with a feather artists club which i do enjoy but im ready to try real str8s out. Im reading up on hones, strops, and everything else (its a bit overwhelming) lol, but theres some great info on this site.

    Trademark "Oxford Razor" (1900-1938) was used by Germania Cutlery Works, 1896-1938.
    This company was owned by the Kastor family. Nathan Kastor was in charge of the factory.
    The factory was in Ohligs-Solingen. They made cutlery for export to the US.
    In 1938, the Nazis seized the factory.
