Revisor Razors - Comments Wanted
Any one have one of the Revisors that John Crowley sells?
If so, what are your thoughts - good or bad.
Thanks.

I like Revisors so much that I have 5 of them, all nominal 6/8 size but none of them came from John. They all have a somewhat heavy spine and a nice heft to them consistent with the description he has on the ones he's selling.
FWIW one of them, a shoulderless grind model, has front tang markings identical to those John sells and no markings on the back of the tang. It takes a good edge and shaves as well as the other four. Most of the others have the oval Revisor logo on the front tang and all have C. Friedr. Schmidt and a lynx on a tree branch on the back side.
This thread prompted me to go to John's site to look at them and I see that he's now listing 4/8 Revisors for $40. I had to buy one at that price but I swear I'm on the wagon now and stopping at six Revisors........................ honest.

Thanked: 4942I have a couple of Revisors also not from John. I have honed a ton of them. They are consistently really nice shavers.

I'm jumping in a little late, but I have a 5/8 Revisor from John. Its a great shaver. It feels fairly stiff compared to some of my other 5/8. I liked it so much that I also bought the 6/8. I haven't had a chance to hone it yet, but I'm looking forward to using it. I'd say go for it.
