Thanked: 0Help Identifying Straight
I am new to the straight razor community, so far I am loving it. Here is my first actual straight, If anyone can tell me anything about the manufacturer, time frame it was made, quality and if it is worth the $20 I paid for it at an antique store it would be appreciated. I plan on replacing the scales, as I do have some skills in making things from wood.

Cool razor. Those scales look like horn. Before you scrap them, clean them up and soak them in neatsfoot oil. They might surprise you.

Thanked: 0Thanks Rob, I can't find much information on Gebruder Rauh online, the things I can find are in German. If anyone has any info on the age of this razor, or history of its maker let me know.

Thanked: 3164They were based in Solingen Grafrath and were noted for having a good mail-order service - they made other things besides razors.
They were entered into the register in 1916 (although they have a history previous to that date) and their entry was deleted from the register in 1957.
They produced a number of brands, among which were: Brillant, Chinanicker (?!), Amato, Landmannsfreund, Bergmanndfreund, Rauh-Werke, Simbolo and many others.
Regards,
