Thread: Thiers Issard 7-Day Sets

Hello everyone! I am thinking of splurging on a very nice looking Thiers-Issard seven day set. My question is whether anyone has any intimate knowledge of the company and or their creation of these sets specifically? I know that their regular straights which I have purchased are not shave ready and needed to be honed before use. Are these sets given any special attention by them? Are they honed other than by a machine because of their special nature? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know much about TI except that they're french and make nice razors so I can't really you help out there.

Thiers-Issard is a legendary French name in razors. This set looks quite handsome. If it's coming from Gary Haywood, I am sure it is also impeccable in every way.

Welcome to SRP. TI is one of my favorite brand of razors. If you are an experienced straight razor shaver I would think you cannot go wrong. OTOH, if you are new to straight razor shaving I would suggest dipping your foot in the water with one or two entry level razors rather than diving into a 7 day set.

I doubt the razors receive any special attention at the factory. I say that not ever examining one of their 7 day sets however I have several of their limited edition razors and they all suffer from the same QC problems as their regular razors.

I finally received my set and I am super excited! thebigspendur was right, they did not receive any special attention from the factory so I got them all professionally honed. Thanks everyone for the previous information! Now anyone that wants to purchase one knows in advance they need honing to be shave ready.

Imacohiba, How about some pictures of that fine new set? Give us something to drool over.. I'm interested in getting a 7 day set myself.

These are a couple from my iPad camera which really doesn't do them justice. They're 7/8 with a square point and oversized pure blonde horn scales. I also have included the link to where I bought them in case anyone is interested. Beautiful!
