Do you mean a typical kamisori or a hybrid meaning Japanese style with Western grind or a Japanese non folding disposable? They are all different.

There really isn't much of a choice unless you know someone in Japan who can scour the web sites and the flea markets in Tokyo on the weekends. There are really just a very few people still making the kamisori so it's a matter of keeping on the lookout when one pops out. You can try our vendors and of course Eboy. Understand in Japan folks use electrics to shave. Straight use is almost non existent. I suspect it's used more by professionals for women's grooming.
Yes maint. is different but like everything else you learn. It's not difficult. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 0japanese straight razor
while new to kamisori, i'm adept at research. japanese chef knives aka aframes tokyo (JAPANESE RAZOR) has a great selection of kamisori including double beveled blades. kamisori are meant to be used by a barber, or other, shaving you. while you may use both sides of the kamisori to shave, or learn to shave yourself traditionally, with one side (with any luck, you won't lose any skin), a double-beveled blade may be best if you plan to shave yourself.
