    Default Dovo Inlay

    Hello,

I recently purchased this straight razor and have searched extensively, but cannot find another Dovo with this same logo on the scales, does anyone know anything about it? The blade says "Solingen" etched above the cutting edge towards the spine. Thanks!Name: photo2.jpg

There are some Logo's being sold on E-bay that are similar to the originals but not quite, with a better pic I could tell if it was transfered...

These are the pics from eBay, I get the razor on Wednesday and I will be sure to take much better pics and post. Thanks for helping out. I hope it is not a fake as it is my first purchase!

Regardless of the inlay/scale situation, the blade itself won't be a fake.

It does, however, look to have significant hone wear. I'd be more worried about that.

Here are close-ups of the inlay and the etching on the blade, both which I have not seen on any other Dovo blade. Thoughs? Judging by the logo, the blade is pre 1953.Name: DSC03002.jpg

The logo does not look inlaid - more like stuck on, but that might just be my monitor. If you can see a clearly defined recess where the logo has lifted a bit (with a magnifying glass) than maybe it is legit. The blade looks legit. It's had it's fair share of use, though.

    Regards,
    Neil

Thanks Neil. Here is another view of the "inlay", it is metal and raised ever so slightly, but is pretty flush with the scales. Down the blade face it says "Solingen" with a logo of an anchor by the shoulder. This blade has me curious.

In that case its probably OK - celluloid and some plastics/acrylics have a habit of expanding and shrinking - which is why the foil logos often buckle and sometimes appear raised. Polishing the scales also removes more material from the scales than from a metal logo, exacerbating the effect.

I have seen those blade markings on very many Solingen made razors - they are fairly common, especially on the bought as a gift and souvenir razors, but I must confess this is the first time I have seen it on a Dovo. Hasn't got 'Fritz Bracht' stamped on the reverse of the tang, has it? If it has it was real quality in its day.

    Regards,
    Neil

It does not have the "Fritz Bracht" stamp unfortunately.

I am pretty sure Neil nailed it with the Commemorative set reference.. Is there a day or a number on top of the spine ????
