Default Le Grelot - Special Coiffer

I've recently acquired an old Le Grelot razor, and I cannot find anything about it.

The blade etching says that it is Swedish steel, and there is also some faded gold wash that says "Special Coiffeur"
There is also some decent spine decoration, even down the tang.
The only flaws are a minuscule (<1/64") chip in the blade, and some minor staining.
It also appears to be a bellied hollow ground blade

I know nothing of French razors, as I prefer British steel, but this seemed decent and I couldn't pass on the $20 price-tag.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Welcome to SRP. IME the vintage Le Grolet are as good as any brand I've shaved with, and that is quite a few. Nice find.

Amazing. I always seem to get my best buys for $20. Mr Jackson is just lucky, I guess.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

I'm just putting it to the hone now, and it is singing like I can't believe.

As most vintage Sheffield razors makers used Swedish steel this razor could become your favorite with a good hone job.

$20 is a steal for that blade, especially in such wonderful condition!
