Thanked: 15I am sure your idea is correct. I have purchased a Mastro Livi for myself. Funny how your mind will play games to rationalize your desires. I rewarded myself for reading the entire thread ......... yeah ....... that's the ticket!

Wow! I am very flattered you read the entire thread! I started this thread about one year and a half ago because I wanted to share with the gentlemen of SRP my personal experience in ordering my very first Mastro Livi straight razor. I am flattered this thread helped you in living the same experience.
I know I have the privilege of living not so far from Mastro Livi workshop, but I am sure your enjoyment for shaving with one of his razors will not be anything less.
I guess we have a new member joining our "Mastro Livi Club"! Welcome and do not forget to post pictures of your razor in the club thread!
I am very curious to see what you bought in order to reward yourself for having read the whole thread!Last edited by razorguy; 10-10-2014 at 09:19 PM.

Thanked: 15Actually I found the read somewhat captivating. I like the personal reflection contained in your posts and feel as though I was able to get a glimpse of not only the craft, but of the man as well. Thank you for providing a very interesting read. I was joking when I said it was a reward for reading, and have been wanting a custom razor for a while. I ended up purchasing a razor from the SRD site. The description was as follows: "Gorgeous 8/8" French Point blade made of Mastro Livi's hand forged carbon Damascus has a striking pattern and extended tang. It has jimps on the bottom of the shank. Also with Stainless steel pins. This blade is set in a extraordinary set of Buckeye Burl Scales with Mammoth Ivory inlays on each end." I will try to post some pics when it arrives.

Thanked: 15In the short time I have been on this forum, my reading of past threads has caused me to have a certain level of respect for a short list of members here. I am certain that as I read more and am here longer that the list will grow. There was input in this thread from a couple of members whose opinions I value, and that along with your accounts of interaction with Mastro definitely swayed me not only toward one of his razors, but also toward me spending a bit more than I really wanted to. Such is life.
I am really looking forward to shaving with this razor, and will let you know when it arrives.

Thanked: 15My new razor arrived yesterday.
This is with a Thiers-Issard 6/8 to give it some size perspective.
I had not shaved for a few days in anticipation of its arrival and last night I dedicated some time to the first shave with it. A few strokes on one of Neil Miller's strops and I was ready to go. This razor is considerably larger than what I have used in the past so there was a different feel right off the bat. I started to shave my right cheek near my ear. I could not feel anything, and after one pass on my cheek I stopped to feel my face. I was amazed at the fact that my face felt as smooth as a typical 2 pass shave. I am very impressed with this razor. I do see myself buying another one, just not right away.

What a razor!!! By looking at the pictures and comparing this Mastro Livi to the TI, they look like "father and son"!
I am very glad to read this razors shaves wonderfully! Scales are magnificent and the damascus pattern is pure art.
It would be very nice if you could also post this picture to the Mastro Livi Club thread. The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

Beautiful razor Razorguy. Studied in detail with a handle as always classy! The inserts are of Mammouth?
