    What, JB Weld doesn't hold an edge?

    Seriously, to the OP, practice away on it. If you bake bread or know someone who does, it's really nice for slashing the tops of loaves before putting them in the oven.

    That Genco steel is good stuff, but harder than almost any other steel you'll encounter, so that kind of skews it as a learning experience. It takes more laps than German steel, and way more laps than Sheffield steel.

    I have a Genco Easy Aces. Would the busted up Honor give me a good feel for what to expect?

    Yes, as far as I know. Someone else please chime in if you've had Gencos whose steel seemed different from other Gencos.

    Jonah--Gencos are great blades, some of the best steel you'll find. Plus, because there were so many made, they're still reasonably priced.
