    Default Need Help

Hi, my name is Michele, I'm new here and I have recently come across an old straight razor that I can find no info on. The outer case says Alex Joseph & Co No 386 Price $3.50 Germany, the blade only has Barber Razor Solingen on one side and made in Germany on the other. I have always had a sort of facination with old straight razors and finally came across one that looks pretty old, yet I can find nothing out on the internet about it. Was hoping that someone here would know some info about this particular straight razor. Thanks

Welcome to SRP Ladybugz13, Interesting razor, it is very common that the razor box and razor itself are mixed meaning not from the actual manufacturer, that said it hard for me to see what the stamp on the razor itself is, but i do see Solingen, what does it say on top of it?
And any writing on the other side of the razor?

Thanks for responding. All it says on top of Solingen is Barber Razor and the other side says Made in Germany.

So more then likely not from Alex Joseph & co since its not stamped on the razor. And from what i found Alex Joseph is a company from Pittsburgh Pa. That said a nice razor from Solingen Germany more then likely from around 1920.

Well thanks for all your help. Glad I found out some info on it. I actually purchased it from a co-worker of mine who's father passed away and she found it while cleaning out his estate. I'm sure she would appreciate hearing about the information that you have supplied me with. I'm still on the hunt for more and will post pics when I come across them. I think spring might actually be starting here in Mass, so the yard sales are starting up again.

Acording to Rich Kupillas in Sargent's Knifes & Razors these celluloid scales are known as the "Classic" pattern. It was one of the common patterns used by CASE and others between 1900-1920.
