Whew. Hee Hee Hee. We have a happy shaver here. 'Lovely razor. I waited 18 mo for my first order from Robert. It had been so long, I'd forgotten to ask for a slight smile to the blade. (still kicking myself). And after tweaking the edge the way I wanted and a little time to get used to it, I'm loving the shaves. Its post #9 in this thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...an-others.html It sits between the lovely rope-spined beauty in the first post, and the most recent - the SRD special. For reasons I can't explain, they hold their edges better than any other blades I have, and reliably give nice feedback - even in the heavier grinds.

We'll understand if you can't wipe the smile off your face.

Damn, that's a nice looking blade. Looks a bit like the one ClassicEdge commissioned recently (here). If it wasn't for the SRP LE, I would probably have an order in already... Can't wait for my number to come up in the SRP LE lottery!

Sorry to hi-jack the thread like this..., but how does it compare to a Hart Steel?

    Cheers.

Fantastic looking razor! Robert's razors are second to none. I do not know what kind of steel he uses but it almost has magical properties. How the one that I have shaves is just somehow "different" and they hone up so nicely, ever time.

I know that it is sometimes not evident when answering in a thread but this is said in a kind and respectful way. Hart Steel?.........Really not in the same league. Robert Williams takes unbelievable care in hand forging and tempering and the end result is really quite unique. He is a master engraver, grinder, and scale maker. Everything he does is top notch including his web site.

I know that I should not broadcast it but, take a look at his site. His work is astounding. Another thing that can not be conveyed enough is that he is also one of the nicest, unassuming people that I have ever had the pleasure to do business with.

Robert Williams Custom Straight Razors – WELCOME

    Take Care,
    Richard

The razor looks to be about 6/8 and the steel is very much like the SRP logo razor but without the smile. (I also have a Williams SRP but I don't have a Hart Steel to compare) The razor has a great feel and is very well balanced. It of course has a great edge courtesy of Phil and I got an excellent shave this morning. I love the look and the feel in the hand of this blade...I'm a happy camper.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys.

    Best,
    Rob
