Need to buy affordable 7/8 straight.
Hey guys.
For a while i have been shaving with 4/8 5/8 and 6/8 razors.
I am now looking to buy and try a good affordable 7/8 straight.
Would anyone be able to recommend me one?
Thank you.*****HAVE A GREAT SHAVE*****

Thanked: 1184I think the key word here is affordable. The bigger blades seem to go for a lot more from what I have seen. I found an affordable (to me) Goldedge 7/8 and a Wade and Butcher. Lucky days on the bay. I am also working on an 8/8 ERN I just bought there and I think everybody was asleep that week or something. So my advice would be sit tight and watch the auction house. Strike when no one is looking. Unless someone here has too many razors and is willing to cut you a deal.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 1263The other question that comes in to play is your definition of affordable. You can get the odd find on the larger blades on eBay etc. but then you have to factor in the cost of possible restoring, honing etc. Then there's always the custom route. AFAIK, there aren't too many manufacturers right now that do production 7/8 blades, most only go up to 6/8.

What is your definition of affordable? I'd look for some of the lesser known brands from Sheffield or Germany. They pop up on ebay on a semi regular basis. Stay away from makes like Wade and Butcher, Dubl Duck etc as they'll cost you an arm and a leg.

You didn't define what "affordable" was...this may or may not fit your bill.

Just keep checking craigslist and ebay and stores. I just got a clean G&F 13/16+ for $24
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Thanked: 3225If you are looking at new production these might fall into the "affordable" class 7/8 .

I do have a new production 6/8 Revisor that shaves just fine. You likely will want to touch up the factory edge just a bit before use. That seems not to be uncommon when buying new razors today unless you get them from a vendor specifically gets them "Shave ready" before sending them out.
No experience with TI razors or that particular vendor. I do know there have been a few threads on here dealing with brand new TI razors having issues out of the box new. No idea how common that is though but you may want to check that out. Outside of that the TI razors have generally good reputation otherwise.
