Thread: KIYA Ichogake Japanese Straight Razor

Anyone knows anything about these? Are they of decent quality? A Canadian online store just put these up for sale at an interesting price and I want to make sure I'm buying quality before ordering.

Over time it looks like it would be difficult to keep krud out of the handle. That's my initial thought. The second thought is; how would I store this thing and protect the vulnerable edge?

I can't say it's no good but...

Kigami aka yellow steel is not even considered very good for kitchen knives.

For $175 I wouldn't want to be the first to try it.

Those are made by a bunch of smiths mainly from yellow steel, and some of them made from white 2 steel.
Decent Kamisori, but for that money you can get Henkotsu, or Tosuke or another vintage in really good to NOS condition.
