Hart steel razor
I bit the bullet and ordered a Hart steel razor a few weeks ago. Here is a photo of what I was sent. Three emails to customer service since Friday afternoon-still no reply from them. I really wanted to like them, being an american made product, but am having a hard time. Anyone else having the same problems? See all the heavy grind marks near the edge? What happened to quality control and customer service? The blade is high polish, but doesn't show up that well when I scanned the razor. Hate to say it but it looks far worse "in person".

The Hart I received was in great condition. Not sure what to say about the 'grind marks' but to me it looks normal for their satin finishes. Though the pic is a little blurry so I could be wrong.

I envy you that yours was in great condition. The blade is a high polish finish, but it is hard to take a photo without excess glare. Yes, the marks you see near the edge are rather deep grinding marks-so deep that to get them out would compromise the blade.
Thanks for the fast reply and for listening to me complain.
Have a fine week, Paul

Thanked: 57My 6/8 round point came shave ready and in perfect condition. My few dealings with customer service have been excellent. Give them a call on the phone, maybe that'll make a difference.

Is it cosmetic or is the edge-bevel affected too?

There are a number of grinding marks that do go into the bevel. What I find disappointing is that the $38.00 Hen & Rooster I purchased last year, has a far better finish on the blade then the Hart steel does.

Thanked: 1195That type of fit and finish is completely unacceptable. Continue your attempts to contact the vendor, I'm sure they'll be willing to help you get a replacement.

Funny how this works out sometimes. I purchased a TI razor from Classic Shaving that had a weird bevel a few months back. I exchanged it for a Hart which was in excellent condition. Anyway, you dropped a lot of dough on that razor so it should be in good order. I mean slight imperfections are OK but big scratch marks would be unacceptable.
