Probably Thistle Cutlery Co. which operated out of New York City from about 1900 to 1920 according to Goins'. If it is in decent condition it would probably make him a good razor.

    Regards - Walt

Thistle's are one of my pet American razor companies, I own quite a few

According to the dates they were out of Ohio from 1890-1917 then moved to NY after that.. Looking at the razors I have always felt the the NY razors looked older then the OH razors but who am I to argue with the books..

They are very hard American steel and can take an hold an incredibly sharp edge, one of the few brands that I head straight to a Shapton 30k finish and know that it can make the most out of it

Hard to beat brand if they are in good shape

Sry, only seen it briefly as my friend and I were passing, I've haven't started repairing blades yet so I didn't give it anymore thought. I was just curious about the manufacturer.

This was from the New York period, had the original box with it. I guess my next question is, how much of a chip-notch can be honed off of the cutting edge. I know it is wider than my 5/8 razors, maybe as much as 7/8. Scales were ok, blade had some surface rust....oh, and yes, next time ill get pictures, hehe.

Pics and a size measurement would help for answers to be any more than a WAG
