Brought a Joh Engstrom frame-back back to life!
So I was in the Hights area in Houston going through some antique shops when I stumble upon this nice little frame-back. It had a little chip on the heel and toe. The lady at the store was like "it's a nice collectors piece from the 1890s" I know its at least from the 1910s, I don't think it's 1890s. I got it for a fair price, talking her down because of the chips. Well, it was about a 6/8 but after about an hour of honing I took about 1/16 out of the blade. It has a crazy smile and the toe is pretty round now. I love smiling blades so it's pretty much a win for me! I thing the scales are that hard rubber material, they are a really dark green.. almost a black-green. I have seen some tobacco pips stems that were the same color. The scales have a neat little logo on them too! :P well enough yapping! Here are the pix!
