Thanked: 0Retro razor
I have been given this by a relative but unfortunately its not in a useable condition (as you can see!). I'm hoping to find some blades that will fit and get it back working again but I don't know anything about it so any help would be much appreciated! The only writing anywhere is on the blade, where it says 'Durham Duplex Razor Co. Sheffield.'
Thanks,
Dan

Your Durham Duplex razor was made from the early 1900s on. It was considered a safety razor because the protective comb guard was supposed to protect your face from too sharp of an angle when shaving. The double sided razor blades could be honed and stropped like a standard straight razor, but an attachment was necessary to do this. The stropping attachment slid over the spine and provided the correct geometry for sharpening. This attachment is shown in the upper right of the photo.
These blades are still being produced to fit carpet cutters and dog grooming equipment. I don't believe they are of the same sharpness or quality as the original blades. If you will send me a PM with your address I will send you a couple of the original blades for you to experiment with.

This thread discuses Durham Duplex Razors. Basically a safety razor if you want to shave with it you will need NOS blades.
