    Default French razor

    Hi there,
I'm new to SRp and just purchased my first razor from the classifieds here. It's a French one with the brand name D.M Paris #30. I have done a web search and turned up nothing. If anyone has any information on this make I would be grateful to know.
It has bakelite scales so is presumably around 40s.
I'm just curious more than anything else and it would be nice to know the history behind my razor.
    Thanks DANIEL
PS This is a really great commmunoty of like minded and supportive bods keep up the good work

I remember that razor. That's a beautiful razor! The little bit I've been able to decipher is that it's hammered steel (acier martele) and the depose on the other side may be short for modele depose, which means registered design. When you get it, see if there is a number 231 on it somewhere. This chart that I found points to the number 231 and gives a little information: http://www.couteaux-jfl.com/marques.htm

    Welcome Daniel to SRP.
I am still searching on more information about that razor.
Finding out the history behind a razor is facinating, but sometimes hard.

More then likely, the mark D. M Paris was of a store of cutlery, traditionally makers from the region of Nogent in France fabricated goods for Paris shops. On the other side the mark déposé means that the mark has been protected, has nothing to do with design.
