Thanked: 1Razor's edge at 60x
I just decided to look at my razor under a microscope. The good news is that it looks nice. I did notice 3 areas along the blade where a sliver of metal is sticking out.

This type of thing.
Two questions:
1. what'd I do to deserve this?
2. How do I get rid of them?
I'm thinking to backhone for 2 or 3 strokes on the 8K Norton followed by about 5 strokes on the same 8k. I've not run into this before so I have no real idea.
The rest of the blade looks nice and smooth (by this I mean no cuts, nicks or other blemishes). The razor is very sharp and regularly passes the thumb test. My shaves are very smooth and close so I don't think these slivers effect the shave much but I don't want them there ruining my nice edge I honed and stropped to keen status.

Thanked: 346hard to say for sure without seeing the actual picture, but it sounds like the remnants of a wire edge.

Steve if it is a wire edge try 3-4 normal honing strokes on the 4000 side before going back to the 8000, this should remove it.

Thanked: 1*BLUSHING* I wiped off the razor with toilet paper as opposed to a towel. Problems solved.
It must have been lint or something. I did take about 10 strokes back on the 8K and stropped just for good measure and the edge looks much better still so alls well that ends well.
