Yep. It must be the LA smog, the low humidity or something. Some aftershaves, like Pinaud's Clubman, have no discernable scent at all to me other than the alcohol.

The Bay Rum doesn't last very long, maybe 15 minutes, if that. I put on the cologne after I've dressed and had breakfast and by that time, the Bay Rum has faded.
