some experience, yes. It could take a skilled honer to fix up the edge. As for the pitting, it would be personal preference if you spent the time to remove it all... I vote no on this one ;)

You are correct, this blade does not have a hollow grind, it is close to a wedge it looks like...or "near wedge" as most people like to say.
One thing is for certain....its not a very nice example...
