I could tell from the pic that you weren't using a flash, since the photos are a little dark. Using a flash that's dulled by the tape would help to light the pics, but avoid the harsh...

I'm not sure what type of camera you have, but try this. Get a cloudy or translucent piece of scotch tape (not the clear stuff since it won't do anything) and put it over your camera flash....
